Why Plan Your Family Holiday Transfer Early?

Family holidays are easier when airport transfers are organised before you travel. Children, bags, prams and flight times can make a simple trip feel busy.

A private family transfer helps remove the guesswork. You can request child seats, choose a suitable vehicle and share luggage details in advance.

GC Airport Transfers helps families travel between Gold Coast Airport, Brisbane Airport, resorts, holiday apartments, cruise terminals and theme parks.

Instead of waiting for a taxi or rideshare vehicle that may not suit your family, your transfer can be planned around your passengers, bags and destination.

Tip 1: Count Passengers Before Choosing the Vehicle

Start by counting every passenger, including babies, toddlers and children. This helps avoid choosing a vehicle that is too small.

A Standard Sedan may suit a small family with light luggage. The Kia Carnival is often better for families with prams, children and bags.

The Maxi Taxi is the better choice for larger family groups, grandparents travelling with you, cruise luggage or several bags.

Standard Sedan1–3 passengersFrom $45Small family trips with light luggage.
Kia Carnival1–7 passengersFrom $70Family holidays, prams, child seats and extra bags.
Maxi Taxi1–11 passengersFrom $80Large families, cruise luggage and group travel.

Final pricing depends on route, time, vehicle and extras. Child seats are $25 per seat. Pickups from 10pm to 5am may attract a $50 after-hours surcharge.

Ask which vehicle suits your family.

Tip 2: Book Child Seats Before Travel Day

Child seats should be requested before travel. This gives us time to prepare the right vehicle and confirm your seat request.

Child seats are $25 per seat. Please tell us whether you need a rear-facing baby seat, forward-facing child seat or booster seat.

Include each child’s age and any helpful notes when you book. This helps us understand the seat request and vehicle setup.

This page gives general travel guidance only. Parents and guardians should choose a suitable approved restraint for each child’s age, size and travel needs.

Helpful pages include child seats, infant capsule transfers, booster seat transfers and taxi baby seat Brisbane.

Request child seats with your family holiday booking.

Tip 3: List Every Bag, Pram & Bulky Item

Families often travel with more items than expected. Suitcases are only part of the load.

When booking, list large suitcases, carry-on bags, prams, travel cots, baby bags, snack bags, scooters, surfboards, golf clubs or sports equipment.

The Kia Carnival gives good luggage flexibility for many family trips. The Maxi Taxi is better when the group is larger or bags are heavier.

Clear luggage details help avoid a tight fit at pickup. We would rather suggest a larger vehicle early than create stress on travel day.

Send your family luggage details.

Tip 4: Share Flight Details Clearly

For airport transfers, include your flight number, date, airport, arrival or departure time and destination.

For arrivals, the flight number helps with timing. For departures, your flight time helps us plan a sensible pickup window.

Families should allow extra time for toilet stops, snacks, prams, bags and getting everyone into the vehicle.

For Brisbane Airport transfers, allow more time than a local Gold Coast Airport trip. Traffic, weather and school holidays can affect travel time.

Helpful pages include airport transfers, Gold Coast to Brisbane Airport transfers and Brisbane Airport to Gold Coast transfers.

Tip 5: Plan Resort Pickup Notes

Family resort pickups can be tricky if the property has several towers, entry gates, basement levels or busy reception areas.

When booking, include the resort name, street address, tower name, room number if needed, gate code and best meeting point.

If you are departing from a resort, allow time for lift waits, checkout, luggage trolleys and children moving slowly through reception.

Popular family areas include Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Main Beach, Mermaid Beach, Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach and Coolangatta.

Tip 6: Keep Essentials Easy to Reach

Do not pack essential family items deep inside checked luggage. Keep snacks, water, nappies, wipes, medicine, passports, chargers and comfort items close.

For babies and toddlers, keep one small bag handy for the transfer. That can help if the child needs a quick change, drink or snack during the trip.

For longer Brisbane Airport transfers, it is worth preparing a little more than you would for a short Gold Coast Airport run.

A calm transfer starts before the vehicle arrives. Having the essentials ready helps everyone settle sooner.

Book a family transfer with room for essentials.

Tip 7: Choose Private Transfers for Simpler Family Travel

A private transfer helps families avoid waiting for the right taxi, hoping a rideshare vehicle is big enough or joining a shared shuttle with extra stops.

With a private transfer, your vehicle is matched to your passengers, luggage and child seat requests before travel day.

This is helpful after a long flight, early in the morning or when children are tired.

Shared transport can work for some travellers, but families often prefer a direct door-to-door trip.

What Families Should Know Before Booking

A smooth airport transfer sets the tone for a family holiday. Whether you are heading to the Gold Coast for a beach break or heading home after a resort stay, a little preparation goes a long way. Here are the things that make the biggest difference for families using our airport transfer service.

Book early, especially during school holidays. Our family vehicles — Kia Carnival and Maxi Taxi — fill up quickly during Queensland school holiday periods, Easter, and the Christmas break. Locking in your transfer early ensures you have the right vehicle and the right child seats pre-installed for your journey.

Note all of your passengers and luggage at booking. This is the most common oversight — passengers assume a sedan will fit the family, but once you add a stroller, beach bags, and two large suitcases, a Kia Carnival is a better choice. We are happy to advise on the right vehicle if you are unsure.

For early morning flights, confirm your pickup time carefully. A good rule is: flight time minus two hours for domestic, minus three hours for international, minus your typical home-to-airport travel time. Your driver will also confirm the recommended pickup time when you finalise your booking.

  • Book early for school holiday and peak-season availability
  • List all passengers and luggage items accurately at booking
  • Request child seats, pram space, or extra boot room in advance
  • Confirm your pickup time with your flight details for accuracy
