What to Expect from Your Infant Capsule Transfer
Your rear-facing infant capsule is fitted into the transfer vehicle before we leave the depot, so when we meet you at Gold Coast Airport (OOL) or Brisbane Airport (BNE) arrivals, the capsule is already strapped in, harness adjusted, and ready to go. We never ask new parents to install a car seat at the kerb after a long-haul flight.
Our drivers are trained on every capsule model we carry and check the harness fit and tether tension with you before driving off. The capsules in our fleet suit babies from approximately 4 kg up to around 9–12 kg depending on the specific model, covering most newborns up to about 12 months of age.
Every capsule complies with AS/NZS 1754 — the only restraint standard recognised under Queensland and federal road law. Capsules from overseas (US-spec FMVSS 213, European ECE R44/R129) are not legal for use in Queensland vehicles even though they look physically similar. If you’ve travelled with your own capsule, bring it to the pickup point — your driver will inspect it for the AS/NZS 1754 sticker and fit it for you at no charge if it’s compliant. If it isn’t compliant, we’ll fit one of ours for the standard $25 capsule fee. Our capsules are sanitised between bookings and we never use seats that are expired or have been involved in a crash.
Queensland Law — Infant Capsules and Rear-Facing Restraints
Under Queensland’s National Transport Commission rules (Australian Road Rules 266), children under 6 months must travel in a rear-facing approved child restraint — that means an infant capsule or a rear-facing convertible seat. Children aged 6 months to under 4 years must use either a rear-facing or forward-facing restraint with an inbuilt harness. Front-seat travel is prohibited for children under 7 years in vehicles with two or more rows unless every back seat is already occupied by other children under 7.
Taxi and rideshare exemptions exist for emergencies, but pre-booked private transfers like ours are required to provide the correct restraint — which is why pre-booking is the safer option for any family travelling with a baby. Most safety advocates (Kidsafe Queensland, Centre for Accident Research & Road Safety, Royal Children’s Hospital) recommend keeping babies rear-facing well beyond the legal minimum. Rear-facing restraints distribute crash forces across the entire back of the capsule shell rather than concentrating them on the harness straps and a baby’s developing neck and spine. How to Book an Infant Capsule Transfer
Booking is straightforward — the capsule is one add-on on top of your normal transfer fare.

- Select your vehicle: Standard Sedan (1–3 pax), Kia Carnival (1–7 pax) or Maxi Taxi (1–11 pax) depending on group size and luggage.
- Add infant capsule: Add “Infant Capsule” as an extra. The $25 fee covers the capsule for the entire transfer including any wait time for a delayed flight.
- Receive confirmation: Your driver receives the booking with the capsule pre-noted. The capsule is fitted and ready when they arrive to collect you.

At what age does my baby need a rear-facing infant capsule?
In Queensland, babies under 6 months must travel rear-facing in an approved infant capsule or rear-facing convertible seat. Many parents continue rear-facing until at least 12 months for added safety, even though the law allows forward-facing from 6 months with an inbuilt harness. We provide a clean, AS/NZS 1754 compliant rear-facing capsule for $25 added to your transfer fare. You’re welcome to bring your own capsule at no extra charge — provided it carries the AS/NZS 1754 compliance sticker. Overseas capsules without that sticker can’t be legally used in Queensland, so we’ll fit one of ours for the standard $25 fee.
Is the capsule installed before you pick me up?
Yes. The rear-facing capsule is fitted before we leave the depot, so when we meet you at Gold Coast or Brisbane Airport arrivals it’s strapped in and ready. Your driver will check the harness fit with your baby before driving off and adjust as needed.

What if my baby is at the upper weight limit of an infant capsule?
If your baby is approaching 9–12 kg, let us know at booking. We’ll select the capsule model with the most headroom for your trip. What Families Should Know Before Booking an Infant Capsule Transfer
An infant capsule is a rear-facing restraint designed for newborns and young babies, typically from birth up to around six months of age or until the baby reaches the maximum weight for the capsule. Our infant capsules are AS/NZS 1754 compliant and are pre-installed in the vehicle before your pickup, so there is nothing for you to organise on arrival.
Travelling with a newborn from the airport requires a little extra time and care. Your driver will wait patiently while you organise your belongings, and will help you load luggage and settle into the vehicle safely. There is no rush — we build extra pickup time into newborn transfers as standard.
For parents arriving with a pram, nappy bag, and infant car seat as checked luggage, a Kia Carnival provides generous boot space alongside the installed infant capsule. If you are also travelling with older siblings, let us know and we will arrange the right seat combination in the right size vehicle.
We recommend confirming your infant capsule request at least 24 hours before your transfer to ensure availability. For newborns under four weeks old, please also let us know so your driver is aware and can take extra care with the transfer.
